She said staff had completed the mandatory six-week basic course of the 123 Security Training Program, which was both intellectual and physical.

According to her, “Some of the topics covered during the course include an overview of legislation, access control, people and vehicles, airport emergencies (basic fire prevention).

Others were screening procedures, X-ray image interpretation, effective communication, protection of parked aircraft, cargo and mail security, and first aid training, among others.

Yakubu said, “In accordance with the requirements of the National Civil Aviation Safety Training Program (NCASTP), the trainees all achieved a passing grade of 70% before graduation.”
