The Police Command in Plateau on Thursday decorated 144 newly promoted officers with their new ranks.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, Mr Peter Ogunyanwo, who decorated the officers in Jos, said the promotion was in line with the recommendation of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

He said the Police Service Commission (PSC) recently approved the I-G’s recommendation and promoted the officers.

He added that “Police Service Commission recently approved the recommendation of the IGP for the promotion of some officers of the force.

“The command in Plateau is one of the beneficiaries of the commission’s magnanimity, as such, one superintendent of Police (SP) was promoted to the rank of Chief superintendent of Police (CSP), three Deputy superintendents of Police (DSP) promoted to the rank of superintendent of Police (SP).

“Equally, 140 Inspectors were promoted to the rank of Assistant superintendents of Police.”

The commissioner urged the newly promoted and decorated officers to brace up for the challenges ahead.

Similarly, the command honoured three of its officers and men for diligence and dedication to duty.
