2018: Kwara Hajj Board Prohibits Pregnant Women From Participating
The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board on Friday announced the prohibition of pregnant women from performing Hajj from 2018 Hajj exercise.
Alhaji Mohammed Tunde-Jimoh, the Executive Secretary of the Board announced the prohibition while speaking with journalists in llorin on Friday.
“The ban has become imperative to save pregnant women from the hardship they normally encounter in Makah and Madinah during the pilgrimage exercise.
“The Board is collaborating with the state Ministry of Health to detect pregnant women. The Board is hereby warning pregnant women from applying for Hajj registration form as they will not be allowed to undertake the holy trip.
“The registration will subsequently be followed by the usual screening exercise for the selection of successful intending pilgrims, which will run from Dec. 15 to Jan. 15, 2018,’’ he said.
The Executive Secretary said the Board would only allow aged intending pilgrims accompanied by a relation to assist the pilgrims in carrying out the Hajj rites.
He said the board would allow installmental payment for 2018 hajj fare from December through designated banks by the board.
He further said prospective pilgrims from 2018 would sign undertaking to be of good behaviour while in Saudi Arabia with a guarantor of Grade Level 14 cadre or above.
Tunde-Jimoh said the 2017 hajj recorded huge success and attributed it to the perfect arrangement put in place by the state government.
