2020 Hajj: NAHCON inaugurates team on accommodation, feedingAhead of the 2020 Hajj exercise, chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, Barrister Zhikrullahi Hassan, has inaugurated a team of staff to proceed on the first official assignment to be carried out by the fourth board of the commission.
The pre-hajj team is expected to make necessary accommodation and feeding arrangements for intending pilgrims to this year’s holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
Inaugurating the team on Wednesday in Abuja, the NAHCON chairman enjoined members of the team to dedicate their time and efforts, as well as examine all prospects of ensuring that Hajj fare goes down this year, and hopefully goes further down next year.
According to Hassan, dedication is instrumental in addressing the issue of Hajj fare reduction, adding that this was part of the promise he made during his screening by the Senate and vowed to keep to it.
He therefore charged members of the team to carry out the assignment without compromising quality or standard of accommodation or feeding, saying they must focus on getting good houses for the pilgrims as well as decent meals from caterers.
The chairman noted that the task is not going to be easy, but urged the team avoid temptation, compromise and lure of surrender in order to ensure successful Hajj exercise.
In his address to the team, Commissioner of Operations, Alhaji Abdullahi Magari Hardawa assured the chairman of all members’ commitment to meet expectations of NAHCON and other Muslims to see that Hajj fare is reduced.
He also tasked members of the team to make good bargains that will enable pilgrims to embark on Hajj with relative ease and get value for their money.
The team, which will be led by the NAHCON chairman, has the three permanent Commissioners, senior management staff, staff from relevant departments and Pharmacist Zainab Ujudud Sheriff on the list.
Sheriff will inspect likely locations to site Nigerian clinics as well as ascertain that all conditions set by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for setting up the clinics by participating countries are met.
