56 Students renounce membership of cult groups in Kogi

The students from various tertiary institutions in the state were led by the National Coordinator of anti-cultism in tertiary institutions in Nigeria, Comrade Samuel Ejembi.

They renounced their membership of these cult groups before Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wilson Nnalegwu.

The repentant cultists, who filed out one after the other to make the renouncement before the police boss and some school administrators, later voluntarily took an oath never to go back to their dastardly acts related with cultism.

While receiving the repentant cultists, the police commissioner expressed happiness that the students voluntarily on their own saw the evils associated with cultism and decided to renounce it, saying it was a beginning to the end of cultism in the state.

He said most of the cases of robberies, killings and kidnappings in tertiary institutions are traceable to cult related activities but added that it was always good and safe to be law abiding.

According to him, there are two ways in every tertiary institution- the wide road which leads to destruction and failure and the narrow road which leads to hard work and success, but he advised the students to follow the narrow road.

In his words ”cultism does not make you great, it makes you less, there is never a short cut to success, it will rather ruin you, trust only on God and be hard working and eschew violence, do not allow the labour of your parents to be in vain, please fear God in all you do” he added

The state commissioner of works, Alh. Abdulmumini Sadiq, who breezed into the occasion announced a personal donation of N500,000 to the ex-cultists and urged them to always be of good

of the Kogi State Police command, openly renounced their membership of cult groups.
