7 children reportedly missing in Taraba

Seven children have reportedly gone missing in Wukari town, in the Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Some women, who spoke to our correspondent, said they recently staged a protest against the incessant disappearance of children in the community.

One of them, Mrs Patience Asoga, said two children disappeared from their house on Saturday, April 24.

Asoga said, “I travelled to Ibi and left the children in the house with other family members. When I came back, they were nowhere to be found and I was told none of them left the

“Initially, we thought they were sleeping and that was how the children got missing till date.

“We have reported the matter to the police and the Department of State Services, but we have not heard from them.”

Another resident of Wukari, Justin Ajifken, said a total of seven children, aged between six and seven, were reported missing and their whereabouts unknown since April.

The state police spokesperson, DSP Usman Abdullahi, did not take his calls as of the time of filing this report.
