The end is yet to be heard in the ongoing trial of Abdulrahman Bello, the ritual muderer Hafsoh Yetunde Lawal, in Ilorin Kwara State.
ROYAL NEWS reliably gathered that Abdulrahman has been moved from the Kwara State Correctional facility by men of Department of State Service for further investigation.
Recalled that during the last appearance of Abdulrahman and his co-defendants in court, no legal representation was announced for him but other suspects were legally represented before Magistrate S.B. Mohammed.
Chief State Counsel Issa Zakari who appeared for the State told the court that Legal Advice from the State Attorney General had stated that “All the suspects have case to answer and the case had been taken over by the State and hat the case be transferred to the State High Court for proper prosecution.
Also in a dramatic mood, Abdulrahman raised his hand up and sought for the permission of the court to talk while Magistrate S.B. Mohammed granted his request and asked him to go ahead.
He said: “I want to say something ma, the remaining suspects didn’t know anything about the crime that I committed. I committed the crime all alone and I hereby appeal to this court to release them to go freely.”
Although, Magistrate S.B. Mohammed disclosed that Legal Advice for the transferred of the case has been tendered stressing that Abdulrahman can make such request when he gets to the High Court which has the jurisdiction to trial him along with his accomplices and thereby adjourned the case to Thursday 20th March 2025 for further hearing.
Meanwhile, ROYAL NEWS platform put a call across to highly placed source at the Nigeria Correctional Service, Kwara State Command and he cofirmed that, “Yes, he has been moved out of our facility but I don’t know where he was moved to.”
However, this medium gathered that Abdulrahman’s movement from the Correctional facility may be unconnected with the need to harvest more information that will assist in his trial so that justice can be served accordingly.
