AC Milan have opened preliminary talks with Nigeria international Victor Boniface as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2024/25 season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The 24-year-old forward, who netted 21 goals across all competitions for Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen last season, has attracted interest from several top clubs despite battling fitness issues during parts of the campaign.
According to transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri, initial contact has been made between the Serie A club and Boniface’s representatives. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Tavolieri confirmed that the player is open to a permanent switch to the Italian side.
“Talks have already taken place between AC Milan and Boniface’s camp. The striker is open to a move, and Bayer Leverkusen could consider a departure this summer,” Tavolieri revealed.
Boniface made headlines in October 2024 when he scored the winning goal against Milan during a UEFA Champions League group-stage fixture, a performance that reportedly left a lasting impression on the Rossoneri’s hierarchy.
Milan’s interest in the powerful forward is driven by head coach Massimiliano Allegri and technical director Igli Tare, both of whom are seeking a physically dominant and tactically versatile striker to lead the line next season. Boniface’s blend of strength, movement, and link-up play has made him a standout candidate for the role.
While no formal offer has been tabled yet, Milan are expected to accelerate negotiations in the coming weeks as they look to finalise key signings early in the summer transfer window.
