The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed that 33 huts and three houses were destroyed during a communal clash between the Chobo and Bachama communities in Lamurde Local Government Area.
The conflict, which stemmed from a longstanding land dispute, escalated into widespread destruction, prompting the deployment of security personnel to restore calm.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the situation has been brought under control, though the aftermath remains visible.
“A total of 33 round huts and three flat houses were discovered burnt,” Nguroje stated, describing the extent of the damage.
To maintain peace and prevent further violence, additional operatives from Operation Farauta and the Counter Terrorism Unit have been deployed to the affected area.
Nguroje added that an investigation is ongoing to identify those responsible for instigating the violence and bringing them to justice.
Authorities have not reported any casualties, but community leaders have been urged to support peace-building efforts and avoid further escalation.
The Adamawa State Command also appealed to residents to remain calm and report any suspicious activities as part of efforts to maintain stability in the region.
