Senator Ned Nwoko (APC–Delta North) has expressed his condolences over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a leader who served Nigeria with determination and historical significance.
In a statement issued on Monday and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Nwoko said he received news of the former president’s passing with deep sadness.
Buhari, who died on Sunday in a London clinic at the age of 81, served as both a military Head of State and a civilian president.
“President Buhari was a man whose name had become etched in Nigeria’s political and historical journey,” Nwoko said. “He served with firm resolve, demonstrating resilience and commitment to the nation.”
While acknowledging that Buhari’s leadership attracted mixed reactions, the senator said his love for Nigeria was never in doubt. “He was a symbol of perseverance, returning to power after several failed attempts—an example of determination in public service,” he added.
Nwoko extended his condolences to Buhari’s family, the government and people of Katsina State, and the entire nation.
“May his soul rest in peace, and may his contributions to Nigeria be remembered with introspection and respect,” he concluded.
