The Kwara State Government has commenced the construction of new office buildings aimed at improving working conditions for public and civil servants across the state.

At a brief ceremony in Ilorin on Tuesday, the government formally handed over the project site to Mapet Construction Ltd. The new offices will be situated adjacent to the Deputy Governor’s Office within the Government House complex.

Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, clarified that the project is not a new Government House, as falsely reported in some quarters. He described the initiative as part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s broader efforts to modernize public infrastructure and enhance service delivery.

“This project is designed to provide a more conducive and functional working environment for government officials, thereby improving operational efficiency and boosting service to the public,” Ogunsola said.

He disclosed that the one-storey building will include several offices, a conference room, and other supporting facilities. The Commissioner also emphasized that the Ministry will closely monitor the construction process to ensure compliance with standards and timely completion within the one-year schedule.

“These offices will help fill existing infrastructure gaps and align with current trends in public administration, ultimately supporting better governance and improved delivery of democratic dividends to residents in both urban and rural communities,” he added.

Present at the site handover were key government officials including the General Manager of the Kwara State Public Procurement Agency, QS Raheem Abdulbaki; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Alhaja Risikat Atinuke; and Director of Administration and Finance, Government House, Alhaji Shina Akorede. Representatives from Baron Architecture, the consulting firm on the project, also attended.

Architect Awolola Emmanuel Tolulope, who represented Mapet Construction Ltd., assured stakeholders of the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality work within the stipulated timeframe. He cited the firm’s track record of timely and professional project execution.
