FIFA has selected Las Vegas, USA, as the host city for the official draw of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place on December 5, according to a report by ESPN.
The decision comes after venues in co-host nations Canada and Mexico were ruled out. This marks another significant milestone in the lead-up to the expanded 48-team tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico next year.
Pedro Cedillo, an executive with Mexican club Pachuca, confirmed the draw’s date and venue during a recent media interaction. “December 5, if I’m not mistaken, is precisely the day the draw takes place, or at the beginning of December,” he said. “I understand it will be in Las Vegas, and that’s where we need to be present to provide information about the city of Pachuca, the state of Hidalgo, and the two venues we have.”
Las Vegas previously hosted the World Cup draw at the Convention Center when the United States last welcomed the global football event in 1994.
The 2026 edition will be the first to feature 48 teams, expanding from the traditional 32, and is expected to be the most geographically diverse World Cup in history.
