Hajia Habiba Muhammed Deen, a former deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State’s 2023 election, has officially resigned from the party.
The resignation, dated September 22, 2025, was addressed to the chairman of her Ankpa Township Ward in Ankpa Local Government Area.
In her letter, Hajia Deen described the decision as the beginning of a new chapter in her political journey, emphasizing her commitment to grassroots politics and advocacy for women’s participation in governance.
She expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing a platform to launch her political career, thanking members of her ward for their support throughout her tenure. “The motive of my resignation is purely personal,” she stated.
Hajia Deen served as the running mate to Senator Dino Melaye during the PDP’s 2023 governorship campaign. She also represented her constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2011, holding roles as Deputy Chief Whip and Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development.
