Date:

Four African nations — Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, and DR Congo — have secured their spots in the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs following the conclusion of the qualifying series on Tuesday night.

Gabon clinched second place in Group F after defeating Burundi 2–0, while Ivory Coast’s victory over Kenya ensured their qualification.

Cameroon advanced from Group D after finishing behind Cape Verde, maintaining their hopes of reaching another World Cup.

Nigeria sealed their playoff berth with a commanding 4–0 win over Benin Republic, a result that boosted their goal difference and confirmed their position among the top second-placed teams.

In Group B, DR Congo earned a narrow 1–0 victory against Sudan to finish runners-up behind Senegal.

The four teams will now compete in the World Cup playoffs, scheduled to take place in Morocco from November 13 to 16.
