The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Committee (JCC) Kano, has urged the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to explore peaceful alternatives in resolving its ongoing dispute with the Federal Government rather than embarking on another strike.
In a statement issued on Thursday by its Public Relations Officer, Comrade Muddassir Hamza Dankaka, the student body warned that repeated industrial actions continue to inflict severe hardship on students already battling economic pressures and disrupted academic calendars.
Led by Chairman Comrade Yunus Halliru, the association stressed that students bear the brunt whenever universities are shut down.
βContinuous strike actions land the hardest blow on the children of ordinary Nigerian students,β the statement read.
NANS noted that every disruption pushes students further behind academically and widens existing learning gaps.
The association called on ASUU and the Federal Government to prioritise sincere dialogue, transparent negotiation and responsible decision-making in the interest of Nigeriaβs youth.
It maintained that students must not be turned into casualties of disputes they did not create.
βStudents must not become collateral damage in disputes they did not create,β the statement added.
