Tinubu’s Ambassadorial Nominees Arrive For Senate Screening

Date:

Several of President Bola Tinubu’s ambassadorial nominees appeared at the National Assembly on Thursday ahead of their scheduled screening by the Senate.

Those sighted at the complex included former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode, former presidential spokesperson Reno Omokri, and former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. Former Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau was also among those present.

Their arrival comes amid growing controversy over the nomination list, following a call by former Senate Leader Ali Ndume for the president to withdraw and review the appointments.

Ndume argued that the list breaches the Federal Character principle required by the Nigerian Constitution, claiming that some states were underrepresented or left out entirely, while others received multiple slots.

He urged the presidency to address what he described as imbalances to ensure fairness and compliance with constitutional provisions.
