The Acting Head of Service of Kwara State, Dr Mercy Olufunke Shittu, has urged civil servants to maintain strong relationships beyond active service, describing sustained bonds as vital for unity, continuity and lasting impact on society.
Dr Shittu gave the advice at a send-off ceremony organised for the retired Acting Head of Service and Permanent Secretary, Establishment and Training, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Ibrahim, alongside other retirees from the Office of the Head of Service.
In her welcome address, she encouraged the retirees to deepen relationships built during their years in service and extend such ties to their families, noting that strong networks create opportunities for mutual support and long-term influence.
She said meaningful human connections play a key role in shaping success, adding that officers still in service have ample opportunity to build relationships that will outlive their careers.
Describing her working relationship with the retirees as cordial and enriching, Dr Shittu said the ceremony was a landmark event that symbolised appreciation, legacy and continuity in public service.
She urged the retirees to continue contributing positively to society and to remain role models wherever they find themselves.
In separate goodwill messages, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Hajia Kikelomo Zabitiyu Grillo; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Alhaji Dr Ayinla Abubakar; and Permanent Secretary, General Services, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Yita, commended the retirees for their dedication and service to the state.
They praised the Office of the Head of Service for organising a befitting ceremony and wished the retirees good health, long life and success in their post-service pursuits.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Ibrahim thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the opportunity to serve as Acting Head of Service and expressed appreciation to the Office of the Head of Service for providing a supportive work environment.
He advised officers still in active service to remain disciplined, focused and committed to their duties.
Other retirees honoured at the event include Mr James Adebisi Abayomi, Mr Joseph Ajiboye, Mrs Lawal Aminat Mojisola, Mrs Babatunde Racheal Bosede, Mrs Sheu Labake Suabat, Mrs Mariam Mojirayo Raji and Mrs Opobiyi Alimat.
The event featured the reading of citations, testimonials and the presentation of gifts to the retirees.
