JUST IN… Imam Imale leads first jumat prayer at Ilorin Central Mosque after Imam Bashir’s demise

Barely five days after the demise of the 12th Chief Imam of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Ulama, Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih OON, the Imam Imale of Ilorin, Sheikh Abdullahi Abdulhamid called on Nigerians particularly Muslims to make the preparation for death a part of their daily lives.

Sheikh Abdulhamid who led the Friday prayer delivered a heart-breaking sermon at the Ilorin Central Mosque, and admonished worshippers that “death is inevitable, every individual will be held accountable for their deeds.”

ROYAL NEWS reports that the mosque was full to capacity with fervent supplications for absolute forgiveness and mercies for the late Chief Imam who reigned from October 1983 to January 2026.

Sheikh Abdulhamid also used the occasion to pay tribute to the late Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu, noting that the deceased was a consistent preacher on the same subject.

The Imam Imale encouraged Muslims to be their brother’s keeper at all times and use their various positions as a call to humanity.

The cleric, however, also offered prayers for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, thanking him for his support in providing good healthcare, including medical travel, for the late Chief Imam and other Islamic scholars in the state.

Sheikh Abdulhamid then prayed Allah to grant the late Imam Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu, who died on Monday Aljanat fridaous and forgive his shortcomings.
