Kwara Approves Reopening Of Schools February 2

The Kwara State Government has announced that schools across the state will reopen on Monday, February 2, 2026, following an improvement in the security situation.

The decision was conveyed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe.

According to the statement, school authorities have been formally notified, with the government citing ongoing security operations aimed at neutralising threats to public safety, including those affecting schools.

“The government deems the situation now to be a lot better than it was before. Even so, we continue to maintain vigilance,” the commissioner said.

He added that security operations remain ongoing to consolidate recent gains, while the state continues to strengthen community resilience alongside other security measures.
