The Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr Kayode Alabi, has charged Christian intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the State and equip themselves with necessary materials needed to face the harsh cold weather condition of the Holy Land of Jordan and Israel.
The Deputy Governor who was represented by the Senior Special Adviser on Religion, Christian Matters, Reverend Timothy Oluwagbemiga Akangbe revealed this during the seminar organized by the Management and Staff of the Kwara State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board on the topic; Pilgrimage as a tool for spiritual development at the ECWA Church Chapel, Challenge Road, Ilorin, on Wednesday.
Mr Alabi, through his aide, urged the intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the State, saying they must safeguard the integrity of Nigeria and conduct themselves well in the Holy land.
Collaborating him, was the Chairman of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Evangelist Professor Timothy Opoola who added that the intending pilgrims should know the kind of clothes to take along because Jordan is currently in the winter season.
The Board Chairman encouraged the pilgrims to abide by all the rules and regulations of Nigeria and the Holy Land.
He added that the kinds of food available there are different from what pilgrims are used to in Nigeria, advising them to prepare adequately for the journey.
He explained that 67 intending pilgrims will be airlifted from Kwara State for the 2026 pilgrimage, adding that the intending pilgrims will leave for the Holy land this month.
The various resource persons from different Government Agencies like: National Orientation Agency( NOA), Department of State Security Services,(DSSS) Immigration Office, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and other agencies gave insightful and enlightening orientations to the intending pilgrims.
Prayers were held for a hitch free journey to the Holy Land.
