The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed comments credited to media entrepreneur Dele Momodu suggesting that President Bola Tinubu would lose the 2027 presidential election if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar contests alongside either Peter Obi or Rotimi Amaechi, describing them as “speculative and unfounded.”
Lagos APC Spokesman Seye Oladejo, in a statement on Tuesday, said such assertions are “premature and unsupported by realities on the ground.” He argued that credible political assessments point to the continued strength and popularity of President Tinubu ahead of the next general elections.
Oladejo noted that many projected opposition candidates are grappling with internal challenges and resistance within their own political bases, making claims of an imminent electoral upset “exaggerated and politically unrealistic.” He emphasized that the Tinubu administration remains focused on reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy, strengthening national security, and promoting sustainable growth.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda continues to address long-standing structural challenges and set Nigeria on a path of economic recovery,” the statement read. “Speculative claims about derailing the nation’s progress stem from those unwilling to see Nigeria succeed. Nigerians can distinguish genuine leadership from political conjecture.”
The APC spokesman urged political commentators and opponents to focus on constructive engagement and national development rather than making predictions about elections months away. He concluded by expressing confidence that the Nigerian electorate will continue to support President Tinubu as his administration consolidates ongoing reforms and deepens progress across key sectors.
