A United States-based businessman and certified financial expert, Chief Agwu Ama Agwu, has declared his intention to contest the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). 🗳️

Speaking with journalists on Monday night in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, Agwu said his decision followed extensive consultations aimed at identifying the most suitable political platform to pursue his ambition of representing his constituency in the House of Representatives.

The aspirant, who hails from Amiri Ward in the Ekoli Edda community of Edda Local Government Area, said he was motivated to join the race by the need to provide effective and people-oriented representation.

He explained that his legislative agenda would be anchored on a community-based approach designed to ensure the concerns of Afikpo/Edda constituents are adequately reflected in national policymaking.

Announcing his intention, Agwu said his candidature was aimed at strengthening the constituency’s voice at the National Assembly and improving the quality of representation at the federal level.

“This is to inform the people of Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency and my party members in the African Democratic Congress that I am contesting to represent them at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly, and the objective is to make laws that will change the narratives,” he said.

Highlighting his over a decade of experience in both local and international private-sector engagements, the ADC aspirant expressed confidence in his capacity to deliver impactful leadership, noting that governance should be measured by its benefits to the people.

“I am contesting this election to touch lives, further liberate my people, and promote unity. I am also running to restore transparency and accountability to the constituency,” he added, while calling on constituents to support his ambition as consultations continue ahead of the 2027 elections.
