Nigerian musicians Davido, Victony, and Timaya have joined growing public outrage over the abduction of pupils, students, and teachers in Oyo State, urging President Bola Tinubu to take urgent action to address rising insecurity and secure the release of the victims.
The victims were kidnapped on May 15, 2026, when gunmen attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School (Yawota), Community Grammar School, and L.A Primary School (Esiele) in Oriire Local Government Area. According to reports, 39 students and seven teachers were abducted, while two teachers were killed during the attack, sparking nationwide condemnation.
Rapper Victony, in a post on his X handle, called on the President to “save our children” and put an end to insecurity in the country, stressing the need for immediate intervention to rescue the abducted victims.
Davido also expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing the situation as heartbreaking and unsustainable. Writing on Snapchat, he lamented the continued suffering of victims in captivity and called for divine intervention while urging an end to the violence.
Timaya, in a separate statement, appealed to the government for stronger urgency and coordinated action to tackle the worsening security situation across the country, emphasizing the need to protect lives and restore safety in affected communities.
