The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has called for the mobilization of critical stakeholders to set the agenda for peaceful and credible general elections in Nigeria in 2027.

Olukoyede made the call on Wednesday, 10th June 2026, while delivering a presentation titled _“Mobilizing Critical Stakeholders for Setting the Agenda for Peaceful and Credible 2027 Elections in Nigeria”_ at the Guest Speaker Series of the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

Addressing participants, the EFCC boss described himself as “profoundly pleased” to serve as the inaugural speaker for the series focused on the 2027 polls.

“I feel profoundly pleased to be your Inaugural Speaker in this series on Setting the Agenda for Peaceful and Credible 2027 Elections in Nigeria,” Olukoyede said.

He commended the University of Ilorin for creating what he termed an “intellectual platform for the dissection of issues around the 2027 general elections.”

“Let me quickly applaud the initiative of the University of Ilorin for providing an intellectual platform for the dissection of issues around the 2027 general elections. There is no better way to enrich our discourse on crucial national issues than convening a forum such as this,” he stated.

Olukoyede stressed that the EFCC remains “doubly committed to tackling the scourge of money politics in our electoral processes.” He specifically listed vote selling, vote buying, and other unnamed infractions as key threats the Commission is working to curb ahead of the next election cycle.

The Guest Speaker Series by the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, UNILORIN, is designed to engage policymakers, security agencies, civil society, and academics in dialogue aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process.

The 2027 general elections will see Nigerians vote for a new president, governors, and federal and state legislators. Stakeholders have repeatedly flagged electoral malpractice and violence as major concerns requiring early intervention.
