Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to a peaceful and orderly transfer of power at the end of his tenure in 2027.
The governor gave the assurance on Thursday while addressing worshippers at a Christmas service held at St. James’ Anglican Church in Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area.
Abiodun said his administration is determined to conclude its tenure without political tension and to hand over to a successor in a manner that sets a new benchmark for governance in the state.
“As we approach 2027, we will finish well and finish strong, and by God’s grace, hand over successfully to a successor,” he said, adding that he plans to attend both his send-off ceremony and the swearing-in of the next governor.
He described the planned transition as potentially the first rancour-free transfer of power in Ogun State’s 50-year history, attributing his confidence to what he called the state’s improved economic outlook.
According to Abiodun, Ogun’s economy has grown significantly since he assumed office, driven by increased industrial activity and rising investment across the state. “Our economy has grown almost five times from what we met. New factories and industries are springing up across the state,” he said.
The governor also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, saying policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda are beginning to deliver positive outcomes nationwide.
Reflecting on the Christmas season, Abiodun urged residents to embrace peace, love and compassion, particularly towards the less privileged, while also advising moderation and responsible celebration.
