Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao has confirmed the arrest and prosecution of a blogger who circulated a controversial video of her at the burial of actor Odunlade Adekola’s father.
The actress came under criticism in August after footage from the event in Otun Ekiti showed her exchanging pleasantries with Adekola’s wife before appearing to hide. The video fueled speculation online, with some users accusing her of having a romantic relationship with the actor.
Ajao denied the claims at the time, describing them as an attempt to damage her reputation. In a fresh statement posted on Instagram on Wednesday, she said the blogger responsible for sharing the video had been convicted of defamation and cyberbullying.
“I can confirm the arrest and prosecution of a blogger, Adabasioni Oluwafemi Aseoro, for criminal defamation and cyberbullying under the Nigerian Cyber Crime Acts,” Ajao wrote.
She accused the blogger of manipulating the video to mislead the public and subject her to ridicule. “He manipulated the video to suit his narrative online and achieve his trolling goal,” she said, adding that the incident prompted her to take legal action.
According to Ajao, Adabasioni was detained for two weeks at Ikoyi Prison before being sentenced. “He assassinated my character, and he paid for it in full,” she said.
The actress also shared a video of the blogger apologizing to her and urging others to remove the clip from their platforms.
