ADC’s John Nwosu Condemns Ogboji Killings, Urges Action on Security

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Anambra State, John Chuma Nwosu, has strongly condemned the killing of 13 people in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area, describing the attack as a tragic failure of leadership.

Gunmen reportedly stormed a meeting venue of Ebonyi State indigenes in the community on Monday, opening fire and killing 13 individuals. The assailants arrived in two SUVs and fled after the assault.

In a statement personally signed, Nwosu expressed grief over the attack and extended condolences to the affected families, the Ogboji community, and the government of Ebonyi State.

He described the incident as “a senseless and heinous act of violence” that reflects the deteriorating security situation in Anambra. “No society can thrive under the threat of violence and lawlessness,” he stated.

Nwosu stressed that the government’s inability to guarantee the safety of its citizens undermines public confidence and further endangers peaceful communities. He called for a swift, impartial investigation and prosecution of the perpetrators.

“The loss of even one life to senseless violence is a tragedy; the massacre in Ogboji is an unacceptable stain on our collective conscience,” Nwosu said.

He emphasized the need to address broader security concerns in the state, warning that Anambra residents continue to live in fear due to inadequate protection.

Nwosu also urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to intensify efforts in combating insecurity, suggesting that ADC’s proposed Comprehensive Security Agenda could provide effective solutions.

He concluded by stating that true healing can only begin once justice is served and impunity is no longer tolerated in Anambra State.
