Ajayi Nears Fitness for Hull City Comeback Following Injury

Hull City defender Semi Ajayi is nearing a return to full fitness following a hamstring injury sustained at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Hull City assistant coach Dean Holden has confirmed. Ajayi has been sidelined since the injury, missing the club’s last seven games across all competitions.

Holden told Hull Live that Ajayi’s recovery is progressing well, although the 32-year-old has not yet returned to full team training. The coaching staff remain cautious, prioritising a complete recovery before reintegration into match action.

Ajayi joined Hull City on a free transfer last summer after leaving West Bromwich Albion, aiming to strengthen the Tigers’ defensive line. His experience and leadership at the back have been missed during his absence.

The Nigerian international has made 12 league appearances for Hull City so far, scoring once, and his return is expected to provide a significant boost to the team as they navigate the Championship season.

With his recovery on track, Ajayi is likely to be reintegrated into training soon, giving Hull City fans hope for a strengthened defence in upcoming matches and crucial fixtures in the league.
