Anambra 2017: APGA, UPP to reunite as Buhari’ ex-aide joins APGA

The Director, Media and Publicity to Pres­ident Muhammadu Buhari during his presi­dential electioneering cam­paign in 2003, Chief Uche Ezechukwu, has joined the All Progressives Grand Al­liance (APGA) in Anambra State.

Ezechukwu listed his ma­jor assignment as ensuring the reunification of APGA and United Progressive Party (UPP) for the 2017 and 2019 Governorship and General Elections, re­spectively.

Ezechukwu, a veteran journalist had also served the late Head of State, Gen Sani Abacha, as a Media Adviser.

His entry into APGA was witnessed by a mammoth crowed of party stakehold­ers and members who were holding their ward meet­ing/reconciliation meeting of all factions at Mr Ikenna Ezeibenne residence, Uba­ha Amesi.

He lamented that Igbo people have been grossly marginalised. He, therefore, asked Ndi-Igbo to forge a common front that would shoot them to the centre.

After he was registered in his country home of Amesi Ward in Aguata Coun­cil Area, Ezechukwu said he was motivated to join APGA in order to assist in building a viable party for Ndi-Igbo which APGA represents.

“As it stands in Nigeria today, people from different ethnic nationalities are go­ing back to their cocoons. My philosophy centres on Igbo; that’s why I decided to join APGA to render service to Ndi-Igbo. Our people are not getting a fair deal from Nigeria.”

This is coming as a chief­tain of the party in Amesi, Barr Ikenna Ezeibenne, dis­closed that he had kicked off a re-election campaign for Obiano under Hon Ezeibenne Support Group for Obiano 2017 with the branding of 14 out of over 40 vehicles that would take the good message of the governor to the doorsteps of Ndi Anambra.

Ezeibeme, who hosted the meeting where Eze­chukwu was received, said he, Ezechukwu, will be a big blessing to the party.

He said his group will begin enlightenment and symposia from this week to sensitise people about Obi­ano’s achievement even as he will also bring the youth together under the ‘Back to Farm Initiative’.

Chief Ezechukwu, while addressing the crowd, said he has never been in a politi­cal party though, has been a facilitator of candidates. He said now he decided to take a stand, according to him, because of the absurdity of many Igbo politicians who declare for All Progressives Congress (APC) in order to protect their business or get some other benefits.
