Anambra Police Recover Cash, Arms After Robbery Chase

Date:

The Anambra State Police Command has recovered ₦636,700 in cash, firearms, and a vehicle abandoned by suspected robbers following a security operation in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area.

The recovery was made on December 16 by operatives of the Commissioner of Police’s Special Patrol Team during an offensive patrol in the area, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement issued in Awka on Wednesday.

According to Ikenga, the operation took place at about 5:00 p.m. and involved a hot pursuit of the suspects, who were intercepted while attempting to evade arrest.

He said the suspects crashed their ash-coloured Toyota Highlander with registration number UWN 680 PE during the chase, abandoned the vehicle, and fled the scene.

Items recovered from the vehicle included one pump-action rifle, one locally fabricated single-barrel rifle, ₦636,700 in suspected stolen cash, and other incriminating materials.

The police spokesman said efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects, with intelligence-led operations intensified across the area.

He assured residents that the command remains committed to proactive policing and will continue to strengthen security measures to protect lives and property in the state.
