The National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel Ogidi, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of using hunger as a political weapon against Nigerians.
Ogidi made the allegation on Wednesday while speaking on Prime Time, a programme on Arise Television monitored by newsmen.
According to him, the APC government has deliberately created widespread hardship, which he said is being used to manipulate and weaken citizens, including PDP members.
“APC has used hunger to weaponise the people, including members of the PDP. People are so hungry now. We all know why PDP members are defecting, but we have a strong belief they’ll come back,” Ogidi said.
He attributed recent defections from the PDP to economic hardship and impatience among some politicians. “Some of these governors, senators, or whatever you call them don’t have patience, that’s the truth,” he added.
Ogidi also dismissed fears that the party’s forthcoming national convention might be disrupted, expressing confidence that it will hold as scheduled in November.
“Our convention is in November, less than three weeks away. Why think that it would not hold? Yes, we are in court, but why lose hope that the court would go against the convention? If you have done the correct thing, the court will give you justice,” he stated.
He assured party members that the PDP has followed all due processes and remains focused on rebuilding and uniting ahead of the 2027 general elections.
