Army kills 3 Boko Haram terrorists, recues 5-yr-old boy

An unidentified 5-year-old boy has been rescued from Boko Haram insurgents by troops of the Nigerian Army, Operation Lafiya Dole, during a gun battle in Bama, Borno State.

ROYAL NEWS learnt that while the battle lasted, three of the terrorists were shot dead, during which the troops, who were from the 202 Battalion, 21 Brigade, pulled the boy from the insurgents’ grip.

It was gathered that the Boko Haram had enclaves in Abaram, Churuchuru and Aulajiri villages in the Bama Local Government Area, which the troops attempted to clear as part of the ongoing Operation Deep Punch 2.

The rescued boy is said to be with troops as efforts were on to locate his parents and reunite him with them. Also, troops of 151 Battalion, 21 Brigade, reportedly encountered some Boko Haram terrorists while on patrol along the Bama- Bocobs Road. The troops were said to have engaged the terrorists in a fire fight and killed an undisclosed number.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen. Sani Usman, who confirmed the incidents, said the troops recovered two Dane guns.
