Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed nine terrorists, arrested eight suspects, and rescued 37 kidnap victims in a series of coordinated operations across several states.
A credible military source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the operations, carried out in Borno, Katsina, Imo, Plateau, and other states, also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and logistics supplies.
According to the source, troops of the 151 Task Force Battalion ambushed ISWAP/JAS fighters at Dipchari in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, killing five insurgents, while troops of the 148 Battalion along the Ekiti–Kogi border neutralised two more and seized two AK-47 rifles. Another terrorist was killed during a failed attack on a military base.
Eight suspects linked to terrorism, kidnapping, and arms trafficking — including an ISWAP logistics courier, a gunrunner, and a wanted IPOB/ESN member — were also apprehended.
The operations led to the rescue of 37 kidnap victims in Kaduna, Taraba, Plateau, Delta, and Kebbi States. Notably, 28 hostages, including a woman who gave birth during the operation, were freed in Sakaba, Kebbi State.
In the South-South, troops of 34 Artillery Brigade and Operation DELTA SAFE destroyed several illegal refining sites in Imo State, seizing over 20,000 litres of stolen crude oil and refined products.
The Nigerian Army Headquarters commended the synergy among security agencies and local vigilantes, reaffirming its commitment to national security and the Federal Government’s food security drive.
