The embattled king, Orile Ifo, Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, was on Tuesday arraigned in court for assaulting Abraham Arinola, an elderly man believed to be one of his chiefs.
Ogunjobi appeared in court following a viral video that showed him verbally and physically assaulting Arinola.
The victim knelt and prostrated on a dirt road while Ogunjobi and some men cursed him and his family members. Arinola’s head was slapped as he was accused of conspiracy.
Oba Ogunjobi was charged with conspiracy, assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The monarch was subsequently granted bail, while the case was adjourned until March 6.
