Assembly lauds Dangote group for investing N217bln in sugar factory in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has lauded Dangote Group of Companies for investing N217 billion in the establishment of a sugar factory in the state so as to boost employment generation and boost the socio-economic development of the state.

Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, the speaker of the house state this on Tuesday after the majority leader of the house, Umar Tanko Tunga(APC-Awe North) raised the issue on the need for the house to commend the company over its gesture under the matter of public interest during the house proceeding in Lafia.

It may be recalled that on March 17, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote group of company disclosed when he paid a courtesy call on Gov. Tanko Al-Makura in Lafia that it has planned to invest N217 billion in the establishment of a sugar plantation in Nasarawa State.

Balarabe-Abdullahi said that the commendation has become imperative in view of the benefits of the projects in which the people of the state would derived for the overall development of the country.

The speaker also assured Dangote of full legislative backing towards ensuring the success of the project in the state.

“We learnt that this project if fully take off will create multiplicity of jobs and increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state as the farm will create employment for not less than 30,000 people in the state.

“ The project will also boost the socio-economic development of the state as well as will fight poverty among others benefits.

“It is in view of this we are commending Gov.Tanko Al-Makura for his efforts towards convincing Alhaji Aliko Dangote for investing such huge amount of money towards boosting our people welfare.

“We are also assuring the company for adequate legislative backing and commending Dangote for investing N217 billion in the establishment of a sugar factory so as to boost employment and fight poverty in Nasarawa State,” he said.

According to him, “It is in the interest of the good people of our state to jealously guide and guard this initiative when established.

He used the medium to urge the people of the state to continue to live in peace in order to enjoy more dividend of democracy for the overall development of the country.

The speaker urged other wealthy Nigerians to emulate Dangote’s humility and philanthropic spirit, adding that people must rise to develop the country.
