Borno Killings: Attack on farmers is attack on food production--- Bakut
The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolutions (IPCR) has sued for peace in Borno state and other parts of Nigeria where insurgency is persisting.

The Director General of the Institute Dr. Bakut T. Bakut made the appealed in Abuja on Wednesday, and said innocent citizens especially farmers would amount to double jeopardy considering the strategic importance of farmers in food production and socioeconomic development of the Nigeria state.

Bakut noted with regrets that an attack on farmers is tantamount to attack on agriculture and food production an act which results in sabotaging the federal government agricultural policy that aims at making Nigeria a food sufficient nation in Africa.

He warned that if the trend of the dastardly act continued, it will scare farmers from farming and the ripple effect will be on food insecurity, malnutrition, while heightening conflicts across the agricultural zones of the country.

The DG further explained that no country can develop in an atmosphere of crisis, animosity and intolerance.
