Following the announcement of the cancellation of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir sallah prayers by the Kwara State Government, the council of ulamah in the state has further confirmed the decision as desirable in the collective interest of the state.
The group also applauded government’s strides in curtailing the spread of COVID-19 in the state by ensuring strict enforcement of safety protocols among the citizens.
This was contained in a statement signed on Friday by the Secretary of the Kwara State Council of Ulamah, Justice Salihu Olohuntoyin Mohammed (rtd).
The council, with the approval of the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, also approved the suspension of all activities related to the festival.
The council however thanked Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and his cabinet for their proactiveness and supports for traditional institutions across the state and prayed that Allah should save the entire humanity from the global pandemic .
