The Nigerian News Agency reports that the rice mega pyramids project is a collaboration of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) with the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN).

“It has also created 12.8 million direct and indirect jobs in different value chains and food belts in the country,” he said.

The CBN stated that despite the challenges of flooding during the rainy season, the COVID-19 pandemic, and persistent insecurity in 2020 and 2021, it was still able to work with other stakeholders to inspire farmers to reap a harvest. abundant.

He added that similar pyramids of rice and corn had been discovered in states such as Kebbi, Niger, Gombe, Ekiti, among others.

Meanwhile, some stakeholders have praised the main bank for the ABP initiative and support for farmers.

One farmer, Mr. Abubakar Alli, said the idea of ABP and CBN supporting state governments to boost food production had been encouraging.

“I must congratulate the CBN for their support through the ABP towards rice production in Nigeria and for supporting different state governments to boost production,” he said.

Also praising the initiative, Chinonso Elendu urged authorities to ensure farmers are safe on their farms.

“This is a very good move, but we need to make sure our farmers are safe and crops are affordable for everyone,” he said.
