The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved a boost in prize money for the CAF Confederation Cup, starting from the 2025/26 season.
Under the new financial framework announced by the CAF Executive Committee, the tournament winner will now receive $4 million, while the runner-up takes home $1 million. Losing semi-finalists will earn $750,000 each, and quarter-finalists are set to receive $550,000 per club.
CAF explained that the increase is part of broader efforts to enhance the commercial value and competitiveness of its inter-club competitions, while providing stronger financial rewards to participating teams.
The Confederation Cup, Africa’s second-tier continental club tournament, has grown in prominence in recent years. The enhanced prize fund is expected to intensify competition in the upcoming campaign.
CAF’s decision reflects its continued commitment to developing club football across the continent and incentivizing clubs to perform at the highest level.
