Rivers United players: bow in Tunisia

Rivers United Football Club suffered a 1-3 loss to Club Africain of Tunisia in their Group A opening match in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage on Sunday.

The Port Harcourt side, in this first leg match at the Olympique d’El Menzah Stadium in Tunis, went behind to a Bilel Ifa goal in the 23rd minute.

The Tunisian side extended the second goal in the 45th minute through Oussama Darragi, while John Odumegwu reduced the tally in the 53rd minute.

However, Douhadji Joseph scored an own goal in the 71st minute to put the match beyond his team.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the extra four minutes added to the duration of the match did not change the score line from 3-1.(NAN)
