Three unidentified men were discovered dead in their apartment on Olateju Street, Lekki Phase One, Lagos, in the early hours of Sunday.

The victims, believed to be casual workers who lived in a makeshift room, were reportedly attacked while asleep. Witnesses said the assailants dragged them outside and killed them with machetes.

“They lived in a makeshift structure on a building site. On Sunday morning, one of their colleagues raised the alarm after the attack. When we got there, they were lying in a pool of blood with machete wounds,” said a resident identified only as Alfred.

Another resident, a member of the Lekki Estate Residents Association, described the incident as unprecedented in the area. “This has thrown the community into panic. Security is being stepped up,” he said.

The motive for the killings remains unclear. Some community members suggested the attack could be linked to cult clashes or disputes involving the victims.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, did not respond to calls or text messages seeking confirmation at press time.

The killings come weeks after PUNCH Metro reported the death of a skit maker, Austin, who was found with machete wounds in the Lakowe community of Ibeju-Lekki, also in Lagos State.
