NSCDC deploys 57 personnel to Minna-Suleja road to check kidnapping, cattle rustling

By Aminu Ahmed Garko

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger on Wednesday said it had deployed 57 security personnel to Minna-Suleja Federal Highway to curb kidnapping and cattle rustling in the area.

Mr Philip Ayuba, the Corps’ Commandant in the state, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna.

Ayuba said that the deployment became necessary because of the high rate of kidnapping, which had become the order of the day on the route.

“We have armed our personnel with the required working facilities to enable them to pursue men of the underworld vigorously,’’ he said.

Ayuba said that effective operational order had being issued to the officers on how to ensure the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in criminals activities.

According to him, the officers deployed will work alongside the police and personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS) to make the road safe for motorists.

He solicited the support of traditional rulers in sensitising communities to volunteer information that would assist the field officers in apprehending the criminals.

The commandant called on residents of the communities to expose bad elements in their midst to the nearest security units for prompt action. (NAN)
