A Professor of English Language and Curriculum Instruction, Clement Kolawole, has been confirmed as the second substantive Vice-Chancellor of Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos by the institution’s governing council.

ROYAL NEWS reports that the varsity don had been serving in an acting capacity following the tenure of the pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Ayo, since last September.

The Registrar of the university, Mr. David Oyejide, made this disclosure in a statement provided by the university’s spokesperson, Mr. Michael Bangbola, on Tuesday.

Kolawole, 66, hails from Ondo State and was appointed as a professor by the University of Ibadan in 2008. He is a member of many professional organizations, including the Nigerian Academy of Education, National Association of Curriculum Theorists, International Council on Education for Teaching, and International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language, among others.

According to the registrar, Kolawole’s elevation to a substantive vice-chancellor is a result of his track record in less than a year in office as an acting vice-chancellor.

He noted that Kolawole and his team had substantially developed the university in terms of human and material resources, course offerings, research activities, and student population.

The registrar highlighted that under Kolawole’s leadership, the university had secured full accreditation for all its 16 courses and programs from the National Universities Commission (NUC), as well as from professional bodies such as ICAN for professional courses.
