The Kwara State Fiscal Responsibility Commission has lauded the State Government for embarking on various and timely monumental projects across the State.

The commendation was given by the Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Abubakar Abdullahi Othman when members of the Commission went on a tour of the ongoing Ilorin International Conference Centre, Kwara Hotels and Ilorin Innovation Hub, all located in Ilorin metropolis.

Barrister Othman noted that, upon completion, the phenomenal projects will give the State a new look, provide various job opportunities for the teeming youths and also enhance the socio- economic development of the State.

Members of the Commission who have been going round the State to inspect projects embarked upon by the State government have been statutorily empowered to ensure prudence, so that public funds are judiciously expended.

While conducting the members of the Commission round the Ilorin International Conference Centre (IICC), representative of the lead consultant of the project, Mr Samuel Egeruwa explained that the project upon completion, has an auditorium with 2500 sitting capacity, in addition to 127 rooms, including Governors and Presidential lodges, a swimming pool, water reticulation system and other modern facilities.
The project is estimated to be completed and handed over to the government by the year 2025.

Similarly, the success story was not different at the Innovation Hub, where members of the Commission were given a tour of the edifice already nearing completion. The hub was conceived by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to promote ICT skills amongst youths in the State

The Innovation Hub is a one of its kind facility, constructed in partnership with Information Handling Service (IHS). When completed, it will not only provide job opportunities for youths but also promote the ease of doing business in the State.

Members of the Commission then proceeded to the Kwara Hotel, which is currently being remodelled to compete favourably well in the global hospitality industry.

The Project Manager of Craneburg Construction Company handling the project, Mr Mohammed Yamout, said their firm is known for handling projects of international standards, promising that Kwara Hotel will not be an exception.

Mr Mohammed went further to appreciate the government for deeming it fit to upgrade and expand the hospitality business in Kwara by resurrecting the facility.

The remodeling project which is expected to last for 24 months was started in January 2024 and has the company working round the clock to ensure they deliver within the stipulated period, ensuring standard and quality work.
