Aliko Dangote

The Dangote Group has been awarded for its contribution to the development of Nigeria’s economy by the Kaduna Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA).

The Dangote Corporate Affairs in the North said in a statement on Monday that the award was presented at the just concluded 39th Kaduna International Trade Fair.

Abubakar said that the Kaduna State Governor,  Mallam Nasiru  El Rufai presented the award to the representative of the group after it emerged the overall first runner up.

He said that El Rufai described the awards as deserving and urged the awardees to scale up their activities and support the President Muhammadu Buhari-led effort in growing the Nigerian economy.

According to him, the president of KADCCIMA, Dr Muheeba  Dankaka said the group has been a frontrunner in supporting economic growth and development through its various investments in agriculture, petrochemicals, cement, sugar, among others.

Abubakar added that the Regional Cement Director Mr Dolapo Alli who represented the President of the group Alhaji Aliko Dangote said the conglomerate was the largest employer of labour in the private sector.

He said according to Dangote, with numerous multi-billion dollars investments coming on stream, the group’s capacity will be bolstered and thousands more will be gainfully employed.

Abubakar said President Buhari had described the role of the group as central to his administration’s economic recovery and growth agenda.

‘‘Buhari, who urged the private sector operators to join hand in bolstering Nigeria’s economy, said the key to modern economic growth and development is in the hands of private sector.

‘‘The president said the government is desirous of providing the enabling environment for investments to thrive,’’ he said.
