Develop more  to fight security challenges – Iyamu, Ekiti NSCDC Commandant

The State Commandant, Nigerian Security & Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ekiti State Command, Mr. Solomon Iyamu, has called on officers and men of the command to equip themselves with the necessary skills, fiscal knowledge and information needed for effective service delivery and operational efficiency.

Iyamu, made the remarks in his welcome address on Monday, at the 4-day capacity/enhancement  re-training workshop organized for officers and men of NSCDC, Ekiti State Command in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital.
The commandant noted that the re-training workshop is specifically designed to educate, inform and remind officers and men of the command on their mission to stamp out crime and guarantee safety of all government properties especially where it relates to power
transmission and oil pipelines of all Nigerians.
The NSCDC commandant in Ekiti pointed out that re-training programmes is to bring confidence and credibility into the concept of security hereby justifying the identity and existence of the corps.
According to him, its officers and men need to ensure and maintain a mentally sound workforce in the fight against crime and criminal activities in Ekiti State, adding that they are to strengthen the linkages between NSCDC and other security agencies in the state.
Iyamu added that the workshop is to equip the officers and men to be able to  rid Nigeria of all crimes and conflicts through intelligence report gathering which align with the vision and mission of the Corps in developing structures and training strategies that would contribute to national security.
“I want to specially commend and appreciate our amiable Commandant General Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu for his wisdom and vision whose priority is to periodically organize workshop and re-training courses for its officers and men in a bid to diligently deliver on the Corps mandate and move it to an enviable height”.
He commended all the sister agencies who are the resources persons, the Nigerian Army, the Police, DSS, FRSC, NDLEA, Immigration, Prisons and Fire Services, Code of Conduct Bureau and Human Rights Commission, for their support and contributions towards ensuring that the planned objectives of this re-training exercise are realized.
In his speech, the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, commended the NSCDC for the re-training and equipping the officers and men to enhance the security operations in Ekiti to be able to tackled the challenges ahead.
