DSS Arrests Notorious Bandit in Bauchi

Date:

Security operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a suspected notorious bandit in Bojinji Village, Bauchi State, during a surprise operation. Authorities also recovered millions of naira and several rounds of ammunition.

Sources revealed that the suspect relocated from Zamfara, claiming to flee persecution, and settled in Bauchi with his family. While the state often hosts individuals escaping violence from neighboring regions, officials warned that some criminals exploit such movements to conceal illegal activities.

The DSS carried out the raid without prior warning, leaving many residents shocked. “The suspect’s movements and illicit wealth were traced before the operation,” a security source said.

Local investigations indicated that the suspect was known for an extravagant lifestyle, often drinking at Unguwar Yelwan Angas and buying alcohol for others. However, no one suspected criminal activity until the DSS intervention.

Authorities urged residents to report anyone whose lifestyle seems suspicious or beyond their means, emphasizing that community vigilance can help prevent crime and uncover hidden criminal networks.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspect’s activities and whether he had accomplices in the state.
