DSS Director links Boko Haram with drug abuse, substance

Director Department of State Security Services, DSS, Kaduna state, Ahmad Idris Koya said drugs abuse contributed immensely to the Boko Haram insurgents and high rate of killings, kidnapping and other socio vices in the country.
The Director made the remarks while responding to Performing Musicians Employee Association of Nigeria, PMAN,.  during a courtesy call on him in Kaduna office.
According to him, the major problem of Nigeria is lack of parental care, saying most parents don’t even know the whereabouts of their children at a particular point in time.
He said even though the country has made some progress in terms of development since 1960 to date, there was need for citizens to show love for their country and promote peace, unity and to believe in country’s democracy, and therefore promised to partner with PMAN to propagate unity, love and peace in the country.
Earlier, the President of PMAN Hon. Hajiya Amina Dangaji, decried Boko Haram and insecurity in the country stressing that the association is ready to partner with DSS to combat drug abuse among youths with a view to reducing rates of Insurgents, killings, crimes and criminality.
Haj. Dangaji who disclosed this during a courtesy visit on the DSS director Mr. Koya expressed surprised that no sane persons would like to be killing or taking lives without been aided by drugs and substance effect.
Hajiya Dangaji who was in company of other members of PMAN during the visit said as performing musician, they are strategically position to reduce drug abuse among the youths through music and messages.
She said PMAN is going round the 36 States of the federation and Abuja to talk about drug abuse among young people, adding that only  drug abuse reduction would enthrone peace and unity in the country.
“Someone who is not on drug cannot be going round killing other people like that. If you a man is taking drug how do you control your wife and children. There’s drug abuse among the insurgence, we’re going about to partners with security to work in to reduce drug abuse. We use music and performance to send massage to the youth”, he said.
According to her, the major problem of Nigeria is complete absent of parental care, saying most parents don’t know the whereabouts of their children at a particular point in time.
Hon. Dangaji noted that Boko Haram insurgents armed robbers and other criminals elements operated with the aid of drugs and substance, saying they’ll be happy if the security and PMAN could partner on the menace.
“PMAN promised to release an album of music Concert at the end of the tour of the states campaign against illicit drugs.”
