Ekiti Guber Tussle: Adeyeye insists on party primaries

Governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, has rebuffed  the appeal of the Deputy Governor, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, that other  aspirants should sheathe their swords in the interest of peace.

Adeyeye described the olive branch waved by Olusola to other governorship  aspirants as “gratuitous insult on the sensibilities of reasonable  PDP members in Ekiti and beyond.”

Olusola who made the appeal in a statement issued by his office on
Monday  pleaded with aspirants aggrieved with his adoption as the
“sole candidate”  to give peace a chance and work for the party’s victory in the 2018 governorship poll.

In a statement on Tuesday signed by the Director of Media, Prince Adedayo  Adeyeye Movement (PAAM), Mr. Niyi Ojo, Adeyeye described the September  6 adoption of Olusola as “a charade and illegality.”

Adeyeye said: “Let nobody hoodwink Ekiti people with rhetoric of being a divine  choice; the choice was that of Fayose who has put himself in the position of God Almighty and when you equate yourself with God, then  your downfall is at hand.

“Fayose continues to beat drums o war threatening party members who attend  meetings of other aspirants with suspension. He continues to sack  from his government party members whose only offence is that they show  support for other aspirants other than his stooge.

“Olusola should therefore direct his appeal to his boss who is the
main  agent of destabilisation and disharmony in the party.

“There will surely be a primary election because Fayose has no control over that, but the act of threatening PDP members not to attend other aspirants’  meetings should stop forthwith.

“It is illegal and smacks of the brigandage for which Fayose is noted.
Let  everyone canvass for votes without encumbrances and intimidation.

The  contraption caled adoption will collapse like a pack of cards because  you don’t put something on nothing.”

“Fayose should stop using government apparatus to harass political appointees  and party executives; it has not worked in the past and it will  never work now.”
