Emir of Ilorin rejoices with UNILORIN 89.3 FM on 13years anniversary

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Mai-Martaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has rejoiced with the authority of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) on the occasion of the13years anniversary of the establishment of UNILORIN 89.3 FM Radio Station.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari noted with delight that the institution has continued to soar higher since its establishment in 1976 during the reign of the late 9th Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Zulkarnaini Gambari, who layed a solid foundation for many achievements that has further positioned the ancient city of Ilorin to be at the forefront of modern civilisation.

In his goodwill message issued on Monday by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir, on behalf of the entire members of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, commended the foresight and commitments of the University leadership for the establishment and sustaining the Radio Station for the past 13years.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari however applauded the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, members of the Senate Council, management and staff of UNILORIN 89.3 FM as well as students of the institutions for being great assets to the progress of the ancient city of Ilorin and Kwara State in general in the past years.

He said: “Within the 27years of my enthronement as the 11th Emir of Ilorin, UNILORIN 89.3 FM is one of the numerous achievements that we have witnessed in line with my regular prayers of seeking prosperity, peace, unity and progress for all adherents of Ilorin community and Kwarans at large.”

The Emir further stressed that he was fascinated by the outstanding programmes produced by the radio station through its seasoned broadcasters which has also proved its worth as a training ground for students of the department of Mass Communications who are the nation’s future media practitioners.

He therefore wish UNILORIN more years of excellent performance in all the endeavours attached to the core values of the institution to the glory of God Almighty, benefit of mankind as well as the peaceful and progress of its host community.
